Maryland Archeology Month is a celebration of our shared archeological heritage - created by Maryland's diverse inhabitants over the last 12,000 years. Protecting this irreplaceable archeological heritage provides opportunities to discover and learn from the past. We invite you to "Get Involved!" in Maryland's past by attending as many events as you can.

Montgomery County

Family Activities:   Family Archaeology Day

Enjoy a fun-filled day learning about Montgomery County Archaeology!  Tour the mansion, “excavate” on our simulated sites, meet people who lived in Montgomery County in the 19th century.  The day includes old time games, Native American and archaeology activities, and house tours.  Something for the young and “young at heart!”

Visit the HSMC Field school as it explores the Leonard Calvert Site - check with the Visitor Center to be sure the field school is on site rather than in class or on field trips.

Movie premier:   Unearthing the Mill Pond House: A documentary film and Q/A session

Watch the premier of a short documentary film highlighting the history of the Mill Pond House, one of the earliest structures in Frederick County. The film will also cover the archeological investigation of the site. A question and answer session with the archeologist will follow. Refreshments will be served.
