18CH1005, the Teagues Point Site, is situated amidst a landscape of rolling agricultural fields, equestrian riding trails, horse jump coourses, and woodlots at
Maxwell Hall Equestrian Park. This field session explored the late 17th to mid 18th-century colonial occupation at the site.
The site was brought to the attention of MHT by Mr. Keven Brady, who found the site in the 1970s. He collected the fields around Teague's Point before the land
was acquired by the State of Maryland. He recovered hundreds of colonial objects and a few pre-contact Native American artifacts from furrows left by the farmer's plow. He brought the site to the attention
of MHT in August of 2023 and an informal site survey led to establishment of Teague's Point as site 18CH1005.
A remote sensing survey of the site, in December 2023 allowed location oof a cluster of rectangular anomalies ranging from just below the surface to around 130 cm
deep. These suggested possible cellars or subfloor pits and likely indicate the presence of a former earthfast structure.
Fieldwork conducted in 2025, during a Boy Scout Merit Badge workshop, confirmed the presence of intact features in the areas identified during the remote sensing
work. This field session was conducted to flesh out those preliminary findings and attempt to define the limits of the site.
