ASM Publications

For more than 30 years, the Archeological Society of Maryland, Inc. has aggressively supported a strong publications program.

ASM Ink - The Society Newsletter

ASM Ink, sent electronically each month is an 8 to 12-page newsletter that keeps every member of the Society abreast of the latest archeological news in Maryland...field and lab projects needing volunteers...upcoming meetings, workshops, and talks...Chapter news...legislation and other action affecting archeology...and much, much more. Since March 2002 the newsletter has been available to ASM members on-line. The ASM Board of Directors recently decided to make it available to the general public through this website. Use the selection tool, below to view current and past issues of ASM Ink. Items for the newsletter should be directed to the Editor, Kim Malinowski.

Maryland Archeology

Journal Cover

Maryland Archeology, ASM's flagship journal, is the only publication dedicated to archeology in the state of Maryland. The journal is published biannually through JOOMAG.COM and is available to all ASM members. An excellent 50-year index to the journal has been compiled by Dennis Curry and is available HERE.

For information regarding submittals, see Maryland Archeology 43(1):34. All correspondence and manuscripts for the journal can be sent to the Editor at Matthew.McKnight@maryland.gov.

Maryland Archeology Access Instructions

In 2020, the ASM Board voted to transition Maryland Archeology to an entirely digital and online publication platform. This will save the ASM a considerable amount of money in printing and mailing costs. With the help of MHT, the ASM was able to have all of the past print editions (55 years worth) scanned and converted to digital files. This has allowed the organization to upload the full library of past journal issues for access by the membership. The system we are using is called Joomag Newsstand and each active member of the ASM receives free access to the platform as a benefit of membership.

You can sign up for a free Joomag Newsstand account using the email address you have registered with ASM. Please follow the steps below to create a Joomag Newsstand account, activate it, and access Maryland Archeology.
